Cyber Police Kashmir Cracks Down on 200 ‘Adverse’ Social Media Handles, Sparks Free Speech Concerns
Srinagar: In a sweeping crackdown on alleged anti-national propaganda and radicalization, Cyber Police Kashmir has identified 200 social media handles over the past three months, with 100 operating from outside India. Several accounts have been blocked, and legal action, including FIRs, has been initiated against key propagators.
Authorities claim the operation aims to dismantle online networks glorifying terrorism, while also focusing on counter-radicalization by counseling those influenced by extremist content. However, the move has sparked concerns about potential curbs on free speech.
Citizens have been urged to report suspicious online activities as Cyber Police Kashmir continues its aggressive monitoring of digital platforms.
